About the maker
John Mwangi
Barefoot leather, grown by the tide.
What we make
Hand-stitched leather sandals and kofia slippers, shaped to each customer's foot on Diani beach.
Why we make it
To keep Swahili shoemaking alive so the next generation of coastal boys has a trade to walk into.
How it's made
Each pair is cut from locally tanned cowhide and finished under the palms using awl, waxed thread and recycled tyre soles.
